How the 2 on 2 off schedule works

The 2 on 2 off schedule alternates two 12-hour shifts with two days off. You are never more than two days from a break.

Each crew works 2 consecutive 12-hour shifts, then has 2 days off, repeating every 4 days.

Two crews cover days and two cover nights, offset by two days so each shift is always staffed.

How many hours a week is a 2 On 2 Off schedule?

42 hours a week on average. That is about 183 12-hour shifts a year, though individual weeks vary.

How many weekends off do you get on a 2 On 2 Off schedule?

About 13 full weekends (Saturday and Sunday) off a year per crew. Use the generator to see exactly which ones for your crew.

How long is the 2 On 2 Off rotation?

The cycle repeats every 4 days. The longest run of shifts is 2 in a row and the longest break is 2 days off in a row.

How is 2 on 2 off different from Pitman?

Pitman mixes in 3-day stretches so that every other weekend is fully off. Plain 2 on 2 off is simpler but your weekends off move around.
